Adult Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu training at Stride Martial Arts and Fitness in Excelsior Springs

Most adults who start at Stride have never trained. You do not need a background in wrestling, judo, or any other sport.

Adult Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is for ages 15 and up. You can train Gi, No-Gi, or both. You do not have to pick one forever on the first visit.

Arrive a few minutes early. You will sign a short waiver and meet a coach. Wear regular workout clothes. If the hour is a Gi class, those clothes are still enough to try it.

Class starts with a warm-up you can scale. Then the coach teaches one technique, broken into pieces. You drill it with a partner slowly. Questions are normal.

Live rounds are explained before anyone is asked to try them. New students can sit out. You stop when a partner taps or the round ends.

Evening classes are 90 minutes. Tuesday and Thursday also have No-Gi from 12:00 to 1:30 PM. Saturday adult open mat is 9:00 to 10:00 AM.

The gym is at 2365 Vintage Drive in Excelsior Springs. The first class is free. Fill out the form and the team reaches out within 24 hours.
